Mission

To improve the quality of life and well-being of Black communities in San Francisco through community engagement, relevant research, commerce promotion, policy development and service interventions.

Goals

Recruit 50,000 Black people to live and work in San Francisco over the next 10 years
Eliminate racial disparities in core life measures over the next 10 years in San Francisco
Support the establishment of 500 Black-owned businesses in 10 years which can serve all city residents.

Vision

We see and experience:

A Black community that thrives in a multi-cultural San Francisco.
A San Francisco where Black children are born, educated, supported and happy; an environment where the next Steph Curry, Serena Williams, Willie Brown, Kamala Harris, Sly Stone and others might be born, nurtured and celebrated.
A vibrant Black business community that serves Black people and all others with useful, helpful services and products; it includes businesses such as restaurants, entertainment venues, professional services organizations, hair care, tech companies and more.
A vibrant Black community that attracts tourism to San Francisco to enjoy creative Black talent; one that is a magnet for Black achievement in the Arts, Education, Technology, Business and Social Endeavors.
A San Francisco that promotes and recognizes Black excellence, and attracts and fosters young Black leadership.
A community where all are housed, working and enriched by continuous learning; a community where health and wellness are a way of life, and the justice system is an ally.
A San Francisco that embraces Black people.
A city where Black people are welcomed, engaged and embedded in all that San Francisco has to offer on every level;
A city where Black historical contributions are celebrated, and where Black innovation and creativity are recognized, promoted and embraced.

We Believe

Now is the time to build on the awakening of the broad American public to the long term injustices which have burdened the Black community; many of those evident in the history of the City.

The resources exist from the wealth in the City and the opportunities to build in diversity as the City grows.
There are notable and very successful Black persons currently living in the City who can serve as a magnets for additional growth of the Black community.
It will benefit the City as a whole as Black talent helps restore vibrancy to the City’s business community and cultural resources.
